Privacy Policy
Last updated: 18 October 2026.
Not Far At All is a travel blog at notfaratall.com. This policy explains how personal data may be processed when you use the website or contact me.
Who is responsible for your data
The data controller is WebKoru Joanna Tuszyńska, Skotnicka 43, 32-600 Brzezinka, Poland. For privacy enquiries, email hi@notfaratall.com.
Using the website
The server processes technical information needed to deliver the website and protect it from misuse. This may include your IP address, the date and time of a request, the page requested, browser information and error messages.
The legal basis is my legitimate interest in keeping the website operational and secure, under Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR.
I do not run my own visitor analytics or use tools to track readers for advertising. Embedded third-party content has separate rules, described below.
Email correspondence
If you email me, I process your email address, your message and any information you choose to include. I use this information to respond and manage our correspondence, based on my legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR.
Where your message concerns entering into or performing a contract, Article 6(1)(b) also applies to the processing necessary to take steps at your request or fulfil that contract. Providing your information is voluntary, but I need a contact address to reply.
Website and email hosting
Hostinger provides the website and email hosting. It may process data as needed to provide these services, security and backups. Further information is available in Hostinger’s data processing documentation.
Cookies and browser preferences
The website uses cookies to remember preferences and support technical functions. These currently include:
darkmode: remembers your choice of dark mode for 30 days after you enable it. Switching to light mode removes this cookie.pll_language: may remember your selected language for up to one year. Whether it is set also depends on the website cache. You can always change the language using the flag in the header.
WordPress and hosting security features may use additional technical cookies, including when authorised editors sign in. Readers do not need an account or a login to use the blog.
You can manage cookies in your browser settings. Blocking or deleting them may remove saved preferences or affect some functions. Blocking cookies alone does not block every connection to the providers of embedded content.
YouTube videos and Mapy.com maps
Some pages contain YouTube videos and Mapy.com maps. I use these services to show travel footage and routes. Embedded content may load automatically as you browse a page. A connection to the provider and the transfer of technical information may occur before you click Play or start using a map.
The provider may receive your IP address, browser and device information, the address of the page containing the embedded item, and information about how you use its service. It may also use its own cookies, statistics or personalisation. If you are signed in to the provider’s account, it may be able to associate this activity with your account.
YouTube is a Google service. For users in the European Economic Area, Google identifies Google Ireland Limited as the data controller. Details, including purposes, legal bases and retention periods, are explained in Google’s Privacy Policy.
Mapy.com is provided by Seznam.cz, a.s., based in the Czech Republic, as a separate controller of its service users’ data. Details are available in the Mapy.com Privacy Notice and Seznam.cz’s data protection policy.
Ordinary links, such as those to Facebook, YouTube or a talk organiser’s website, open the external service only when you click them. Local photos and videos stored on the blog’s hosting do not use the YouTube player.
Transfers outside the EEA
Using these providers’ services may involve processing data outside the European Economic Area, particularly in the USA. Hostinger describes the use of standard contractual clauses in the circumstances covered by its Data Processing Addendum. Google identifies safeguards including the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses, depending on the transfer. Information about these safeguards and how to obtain a copy is available in Google’s data transfer documentation. Seznam.cz’s policy, linked above, explains any transfers associated with Mapy.com. You can also request information about the processing for which I am responsible as the blog’s controller by emailing hi@notfaratall.com.
How long I keep data
I keep correspondence for as long as needed to deal with the matter. Afterwards, I retain it only as necessary to meet legal obligations or establish, exercise or defend legal claims. The nature of the matter, any contractual obligations and applicable limitation periods determine how long it is kept.
Technical log retention depends on the time needed to detect and investigate errors or security incidents. Backups are used to restore the website and are replaced by later backups according to the hosting service’s cycle. Records concerning a particular incident or claim may be retained longer where needed to investigate it or protect legal rights.
The lifetime of preference cookies is stated above. Retention by the separate controllers of YouTube and Mapy.com depends on their policies, account settings and the way their services are used.
Your rights
Subject to the conditions in the GDPR, you can request access to your personal data, correction, erasure or restriction of processing. The right to data portability applies where its legal conditions are met.
You may object to processing based on my legitimate interests on grounds relating to your particular situation. To exercise your rights, email hi@notfaratall.com. You may also complain to the President of the Polish Personal Data Protection Office or another competent data protection authority.
I do not make decisions about blog readers based solely on automated processing that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
Changes to this policy
I will update this information if the way the website works or the scope of data processing changes.
